This course covers a wide range of topics to make sure that all workers are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to create a safe and healthy work environment. Yet, this course is a vital component of workplace safety in the United States. Let’s delve into this read to learn different modules with their objectives! For a more inclusive approach to safety education, individuals may explore options such as OSHA 10 Spanish training, ensuring that the workforce is well-versed in safety practices regardless of language barriers, fostering a secure and diverse work environment.

    Module 1: Introduction to OSHA

It is the very first module of OSHA 10 construction safety training that serves as a fundamental overview of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s role and significance in ensuring workplace safety. This module covers the history and mission of OSHA and its aim towards building a healthier and safer place of work.

    • Enabling Objective:

Participants will be able to list the main elements of the OSHA inspection process, explain the intent and duties of OSHA, and comprehend their own rights and obligations under the agency.

    • Terminal Objective:

Participants will have a thorough grasp of OSHA’s role in maintaining workplace safety, as well as the rights and obligations of employers and employees, at the end of this session. They’ll be able to explain the fundamental steps taken during an OSHA inspection.

Module 2: Walking and Working Surfaces

This OSHA 10 construction safety training addresses the critical aspects of maintaining safe conditions on surfaces where construction activities take place. This module focuses on preventing slips, trips, and falls, which are among the most common causes of construction-related injuries.

    • Enabling Objective:

The ability to recognize and evaluate the risks associated with working and walking surfaces, comprehend the value of good housekeeping, and outline preventative steps to avoid trips, falls, and slides will all be demonstrated by the participants.

    • Terminal Objective:

Participants will know how to identify and reduce risks related to surfaces used for walking and working. They’ll be able to put safety precautions in place to reduce the possibility of trips, falls, and slides at work.

Module 3: Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plan, and Prevention

The OSHA 10 construction safety training’s Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection module are essential. The first topic covered in this session is the significance of having easily visible exits in case of an emergency evacuation.

    • Enabling Objective:

The significance of escape routes, emergency action plans, plans for preventing fires, and fire protection systems will be understood by participants. They will be able to identify emergency protocols, convey them, and understand the importance of taking precautionary precautions against fires.

    • Terminal Objective:

The participants will be capable of developing and implementing effective exit routes, emergency action plans, and fire prevention plans in their workplaces. They will also demonstrate proficiency in operating fire protection equipment.

    Module 4: Electrical Safety

The goal of the OSHA 10 construction safety training’s Electrical Safety module is to provide the information and techniques required to reduce electrical hazards in the construction sector. This training emphasizes the importance of recognizing and controlling these hazards to prevent electrical shocks, burns, and other injuries.

    • Enabling Objective:

Participants will get an understanding of the risks connected with electricity, be able to recognize common electrical dangers and be familiar with safety protocols for handling or being close to electrical equipment.

    • Terminal Objective:

Participants will demonstrate an excellent understanding of the basic principles of electrical safety. They can lower the likelihood of electrical hazards, by using safe work practices and procedures when handling electricity, reducing the risk of electrical accidents.

    Module 5: Personal Protective Equipment

The module related to personal protective equipment focuses on the critical role that protective gear plays in safeguarding workers from various job-related hazards. This training emphasizes the importance of selecting the right type of PPE for specific tasks and make sure they fit properly.

    • Enabling Objective:

The trainees will be able to identify appropriate PPE for various workplace hazards; even they understand the proper use and limitations of PPE and recognize the importance of PPE maintenance and inspection.

    • Terminal Objective:

The trainees become proficient in selecting, using, and maintaining personal protective equipment suitable for their specific workplace conditions. They will also demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate PPE requirements to colleagues.

    Module 6: Hazard Communication

This course is designed to educate employees about the significance of effective communication regarding workplace hazards that are particularly related to chemicals, fire safety, etc.

    • Enabling Objective:

Identify the hazard related to communication conducted during hazardous situations. This course enables participants to recognize hazard communication symbols and labels and comprehend the importance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in conveying information about hazardous chemicals.

    • Terminal Objective:

Participants are able to adapt to interpreting hazard communication symbols, labels, and SDS. They will be able to communicate chemical hazards effectively and implement appropriate safety measures when working with hazardous substances.

    Module 7: Stairways and Ladders

The Stairways and Ladders module in the OSHA 10 construction safety training is dedicated to educating participants on the safe use, construction, and maintenance of stairways and ladders in the workplace. However, it covers design principles, such as uniform riser height and tread depth, as well as the necessity for handrails and guardrails to prevent falls

    • Enabling Objective:

This module of the OSHA 10 course helps participants determine the most common forms of risks associated with using ladders or stairs on a construction site. They also learn about how to minimize or completely remove the risk of slipping, tripping, or falling on a construction site

    • Terminal Objective:

Using up-to-date OSHA and industry data on illnesses, injuries, and/or fatalities at construction sites, learners will be able to identify risks and safe procedures related to stairways and ladders. They have a proper understanding of a minimum of four safety procedures or guidelines that reduce or completely remove the possibility of slipping, tripping, or falling on a building site when ladders are being used.

Module 8: Tools – Hand and Power

This training covers how to choose, check, and use tools like pliers, screwdrivers, and hammers properly. It highlights how crucial it is to use the appropriate tool for the job, keep tools in good condition, and follow safe work procedures. Additionally, the module covers power instruments that are commonly utilized in construction, such as electric saws, drills, and grinders.

    • Enabling Objective:

This module enables participants to equip themselves with the risks that are associated with utilizing power and hand tools. They also learn fundamental hand- and power-tool safety guidelines that are required for the safe operation of hand tools, abrasive wheels and tools, electrically powered tools, hydraulically powered tools, pneumatically powered tools, and powder-actuated tools.

    • Terminal Objective:

Based on the most recent data from OSHA and the industry about illnesses, injuries, and fatalities at construction sites, the participant will be competent in identifying risks and safe handling procedures related to hand and power tools.
